Information for 2005 ADSA conference
2005 ADSA Conference JOURNEYS TO THE INTERIOR Charles Sturt University, Wagga Wagga Campus Monday 4th to Thursday 7th July 2005 CALL FOR PAPERS/PARTICIPATION Theme The conference theme is Journeys to the Interior, which is intended
to encourage participants to explore concepts of interiority on a
variety of levels. Conference Location The conference will take place at the Performing Arts complex of the
Wagga Wagga campus of Charles Sturt University, which is 7 kilometres
outside the city of Wagga Wagga. The site includes a studio theatre,
drama studios, a television studio and lecture rooms. On-campus
accommodation will be available or delegates can choose to stay in one
of the many motels and hotels in the city. Wagga Wagga is situated approximately half-way between Sydney and
Melbourne, just off the Hume Highway. It is a 2 ½ hour drive from
Canberra and is easily accessible from Adelaide via the Sturt Highway.
It is serviced by Qantas Link and Rex (Regional Express) airlines,
Country Link rail (on the main Sydney to Melbourne line) and several
coach companies. The largest inland city in NSW, Wagga Wagga has all the amenities
one would expect in a regional centre, and is the home of the Riverina
Theatre Company, the state s longest surviving regional professional
theatre company, the National Glass Collection, and a major regional
art gallery. Nearby are several historic country towns that are well
worth a visit, and further afield are the wineries of the MIA, Griffith
and northern Victoria, and the NSW snowfields are accessible via the
Snowy Mountains Highway. Conference Update--Posted June 2005 We have had approximately 60 proposals for a wide range of
presentations, and it looks as though it will be a very good
conference. · Conference Registration Form As this is a heavy Residential School period at CSU there is no
on-campus accommodation available. We will be providing a bus to ferry
delegates from and back to town. · A list of Wagga motel and hotel accommodation, with prices. The aforementioned bus will travel down the main streets (Baylis and
Fitzmaurice), so any hotel/motel in those streets will be convenient,
and motels in Tarcutta, Morgan, and Kincaid streets are only a short
walk to the main streets, so they will be fine too. There are a lot of
motels in Edward Street but only the Astor is conveniently located for
easy pedestrian access to the main street bus route. Please note that we have scheduled a Monday lunchtime start and a
mid-Thursday afternoon finish so that delegates can save on
accommodation costs by flying in on Monday morning and out on the
5.00pm final afternoon flights. Both Qantas Link and Rex (Regional
Express) fly to Wagga. The train service is the Sydney to Melbourne
XPT, but the arrival and departure times of the trains are not very
convenient. Several coach lines, such as Greyhound and Fearnes, also
service Wagga. Further information Please contact Ray Goodlass for further information at the School of
