Minutes of the Australasian Association for Theatre, Drama and Performance Studies: Sydney University, Friday 7th July, 2006. 1. Attendance: 2. Apologies: 3. Minutes passed (Paul Makeham 1, Geoffrey Milne seconded). 4. President's Report: * Formal thanks to the Department of Performance Studies for conference organisation. 5. Treasurer's Report: * There has been a smooth transition to La Trobe university. Motion: That the Treasurer's Report be accepted. 6. Election of Office-Bearers for 2006/7 * Numbers are continuing to increase throughout the conference. 8. Website * New address: 9. AUSTAGE * AusStage submitted a LIEF grant application for 2007 funding. 10. Conferences * There has been expression of interest from Otago University for 2008 11. Post-graduate Report * There is a strong postgraduate presence at the conference 12. Prizes and Rotation of Judges * There was extensive discussion about the need to expand the
timeline for the Phillip Parsons award to 2 calendar years prior to the
year Motion: That the criteria for Phillip Parsons prize be extended. Motion: That the prize money for each award be increased from $300 to $400 13. Publications * ADS has transferred to La Trobe. 14. CHAUTSI * ADSA has to think about being strategic as an organization, and
need to commit $880 to join CHASS who have representation at a
government level. * Formal thanks again recorded to Ian Maxwell and Performance Studies.

* Thanks to the University of Sydney for 3 extra postgraduate prizes this year.

* There is indication of real growth in the discipline of theatre and performance studies.
* ADSA should be professionalising
* Proposal from the Chair that member fees be raised to $90 full, $60 post-grad

* Membership numbers have increased and this is reflected in revenue.
* There was a surplus from Wagga conference of $1294.04 and currently ADSA has $26,670.05.
* There was some discussion about the move to a term deposit account to improve interest.

7. Membership
Motion: That we set target membership of 120 full members and 50 postgraduates for 2007:

* The website is still just a beginning- and there are a lot of possibilities, including self-managing database.
* There has been substantial expansion in involvement from universities.

Future plans are to cultivate e-research capacity, have a sustainable
data entry model, and to build links with media resources to enhance
the database's richness.
* Formal thanks and commendation to Jules Holledge and Jonathan Bollen recorded.
* The post-grad caucus was a success.
* High standard of post-graduate papers.

* There was discussion of the need to overhaul the criteria for ADSA prizes.
* Adrian Kiernander has offered to investigate prize criteria.

* The ADSA membership database
is manageable but the ADS database is still problematic - some people
have not received journal #48.
* A new administrative officer is starting a new ADS database to avoid any doubling up.
* Issue #49 is currently being typeset, #50 on Puppetry and Visual Theatre is virtually full.
* October 2008 issue will be co-edited by Meredith Rogers and Liz Schaeffer.
* There will be effort to make 2009 publication regional.
* Performance Paradigm: currently has two issues out, and is calling for proposals.

About Performance: Next issues will be on (2007) site specificity,
(2008) still photography and performance and (2009) Playing Politics.
