"Playing Politics: Performance, Community and Social Change"
A great deal of performance studies scholarship has revolved around the concepts of ‘social drama’, ‘liminal/liminoid’ experience, and the ‘efficacy’ of performance. These and other theoretical tropes have been vigorously critiqued in recent years as scholars and practitioners re-engage with an understanding of performance as ethical encounter. In this issue of About Performance, contributors recast the relationship between performance and politics, focusing on contemporary practices in Australia, New Zealand, Britain, Denmark, Poland and Germany.
This issue contains articles by Baz Kershaw, Ian Watson, Peter Snow, Maryrose Casey, Stuart Grant, Gay McAuley, Rand Hazou, Kerrie Schaefer, Alexandra Kolb, Paul Dwyer, Liza-Marie Syron, Adam Ledger, Matt Jennings and Hilary Halba.
