Dance Studies at Surrey has an outstanding international reputation for its contribution to dance research and teaching. We offer a distinctive undergraduate and graduate teaching programme with strengths in dance analysis and history, cross-cultural dance and popular culture. The Department’s current research agenda is built around three interdisciplinary clusters: ‘performing the archive; black diasporas in the arts; and dance and spectacle’.
We are seeking to appoint a dynamic scholar and university curriculum leader to join the academic team in the Department. You will have an expanding international research profile and be committed to furthering individual and collaborative research in dance studies. You could have expertise in East Asian, African or European dance practices, and/or a distinctive interdisciplinary approach such as from critical or cultural theory, visual culture or performance studies, geography or history.
Given Surrey’s range of teaching programmes, you will also contribute to academic leadership within the Department, participate in planning and administration, and have excellent skills in communication, pedagogy and cultural awareness.
