Vacancy for Drama Lecturer at NIE, Singapore
The National Institute of Education invites qualified Drama Teaching applicants to apply for an academic position in VPA (Drama). The VPA Academic Group has commitments to the practice and theory of drama and to education. Its Drama programme offers a B.A. (Education) and a M.Ed. (Drama Education), as well as teacher certification courses. The Academic Group prepares students for teaching at primary and secondary level. Research-oriented postgraduate work is also offered for the Master of Arts and the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees.
Requirements
Applicants should have a Ph.D. or Ed.D. in the relevant fields and preferably with a proven track record in research and teaching at the university. In particular, interest is in candidates who have background in more than one of the following areas:
• Devised and Youth Theatre/Applied Theatre/Curriculum Development
• Pedagogy in Drama Education
• Contemporary and Traditional Asian/South East Asian Theatre
• Theatre History/ Dramaturgy
• Theatre Theory and Practice
• Performance Making/Actor Training
• Directing/Devising/Playbuilding
• Multi-modal forms of theatre
• Voice Production
An applicant will be in a position of added advantage if he or she possesses a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) or an equivalent qualification as well as some classroom teaching experience in drama. Some experience of teaching children in schools would also be an advantage.Responsibilities
Appointments may be made either at the level of Associate Professor or Assistant Professor, depending on the candidate's qualifications and experience. Successful candidates will be expected to teach at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, supervise student teachers in teaching practicum, mentor and supervise Master’s and Doctoral students and lead or collaborate in funded research projects, as well as maintain a strong research and publication record.
