Ranking journals for the Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) initiative (2008)
The Excellence in Research in Australia (ERA) assessment process – the replacement for the RQF – will have a Quality component based on ranked outlets and citation analysis. In this process, a ranking is given to a journal or publisher, and all material published in that journal or by that publisher is treated as having the same ranking.
Universities were recently invited to contribute to the process of ranking journals. Veronica Kelly, Julie Holledge, Peta Tait, Joanne Tompkins, Adrian Kiernander and Jonathan Bollen have prepared a draft list of journals with proposed rankings, revising and extending the list of ranked journals circulated by the Australian Research Council (available at http://www.arc.gov.au/era/indicators.htm).
The ARC has sought input through each university, but we would also like ADSA to contribute. You can help us do this by downloading and reviewing our draft ranking of journals, adding other journals to the list, and suggesting changes to the ranking. Please add a short comment to explain any changes to ranking you recommend.
