ADSA are very happy to have welcomed a new Working Group - Technologies in Performance.
The Technologies in Performance working group has a broad interest in the impact of technology in, on and around performance. We are interested in theoretical, historiographical, aesthetic, experimental, and creative research approaches to the study of technology in performance. Topics include and are not limited to: technology as a dramaturgical element of performance, innovations in production technology (lighting, sound, projection, stage etc.), emerging technologies in performance (robotics, AI/ML, data, mobile computing, VR/AR/MR/XR, etc.), technology in processes (QLAB, Unreal, mobile, Zoom etc.), impacts on audiences (mobiles, headphones, haptics, surveillance etc.); impacts on professional roles, labour and workforce (acting, directing, designing, stage managing etc.); transmedia, marketing, expanded performance; site-responsive, immersive, and everyday performance; performance data, measurement, evaluation, and documentation.
We are planning to meet at the 2025 ADSA conference in Wellington - https://www.adsa.edu.au/next-conference - and would love to see you there.
More information about the working group can be found on the website https://www.adsa.edu.au/workinggroups
